President

Dr Andrew Binns

Andrew is a general practitioner in Lismore in rural NSW. He has a special interest in lifestyle medicine and its relevance to primary care. He is Adjunct Professor with the Division of Health and Applied Sciences, Lismore Campus, Southern Cross University. He is also medical editor of GP Speak, a bi-monthly magazine for the Northern Rivers General Practice Network.

Vice President

Dr John Stevens

Head of Department and Director of Post Graduate Studies The Dept of Nursing and Health Care Practices Southern Cross University, Lismore

John is a registered nurse and sociologist who has specialised in the education of nurses and allied health care workers for over 20 years. John also has over 30 peer reviewed research articles, many with a focus on ageing well. John supervises PhD and Masters research students from a variety of health professions and is also the Director of the Master of Clinical Science: a multi disciplinary course work program with over 15 specialty streams including the Master of Clinical Science (Lifestyle Medicine). Treasurer

David Dennis

David is an Economist who is presently the Executive Officer to the Faculty of Arts and Sciences at Southern Cross University. In this capacity, he has been closely involved in the University's lifestyle medicine initiatives and in the creation of the Association. Formerly he has lived and worked for 30 years in Papua New Guinea and Malaysia providing economic and market research advisory services for government, the private sector and international agencies. He has undertaken assignments in seven countries in the Asia Pacific region for clients across the globe.

Secretary

Dr Garry Egger

Dr Garry Egger Garry is the Director of the Centre for Health Promotion and Research in Sydney and Adjunct Professor in Lifestyle Medicine at Southern Cross University in Lismore. He has worked in clinical and public health since 1972 and has been a consultant to the World Health Organisation, industry and several government organisations, as well as being involved in medical and allied health education. He is the author of thirty books, over hundred scientific articles and numerous popular press articles and has made numerous media appearances.

Associate Professor David Colquhoun

David (University Queensland) is a Cardiologist in private practice in Brisbane. He has been extensively involved in research over the last 25 years involving multi-centre international trials and investigator initiated trials in the area of lipids, nutrition, nutraceuticals and physiological aspects of heart disease, diabetes and obesity. He has presented his research at many international meetings. He is Head of Cardiovascular research at Greenslopes Private Hospital. He was a member of the NHFA Nutrition and Metabolism Committee. He is a grant assessor for NH&MRC, NHFA and Diabetes Aust. He has published and been a referee for major journals. He is the AMA spokesperson for Cardiology in Queensland. He is a member of the Scientific Committee of NICM. In 2008 he attended the 2020 Summit, the only cardiologist invited. He was a member of the Qld Govt Smart State Council working group on Prevention and early intervention approaches to tackle chronic disease. He writes a column for Prevention magazine.

Mr Tim Boyd

Tim is an accredited exercise physiologist (EP) with a special interest in the use of exercise, physical activity, and behavioural strategies in the prevention and management of a broad range of preventable, lifestyle-related health conditions. Tim is an Exercise Science graduate of Southern Cross University with 20 years experience working alongside medical and allied health practitioners in multi-disciplinary injury and health management. He is currently employed as the principle Exercise Physiologist with Physio Plus, a multi-disciplinary allied health practice on the Northern Rivers of NSW.
