Masters in Clinical Science (Lifestyle Medicine)

Lifestyle Medicine is defined as "the application of behavioural, medical and psychological principles to the management of lifestyle based health problems". The Masters in Clinical Science (Lifestyle Medicine) enables graduates to diversify areas of expertise, developing new skills to solve lifestyle related illnesses at the clinical and public health level.

The degree aims to provide health care professionals with the qualifications and knowledge required to achieve more successful health outcomes for those illnesses that have a lifestyle-based aetiology. Graduates from the degree may diversify their career opportunities into fields such as social marketing and the media, managing community health programs, clinical management of lifestyle related problems (e.g. diabetes control, weight control and obesity management), designing corporate health programs or facilitating health care strategies in developing nations.

Graduates have the opportunity to expand from clinical to public health or vice versa in the areas of lifestyle medicine and health promotion. This has meant not only the advent of this as a new profession but expanded opportunities for existing health workers such as doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, dentists, teachers, dieticians, exercise specialists, psychologists and many more.
